Reflecting back through a lifetime of practicing architecture, there have been few instances in which the collaboration of many talented people synergize in the making of a home.Every decision made, from finish materials and lighting to colors and landscaping, came together unexpectedly well. From the beginning we all want to take on a unique, fun project that would stand out from the status quo.
As architects, we had the freedom to create playful forms made up of different textures and materials; a home that thanks to its spatially dynamic qualities embraces light from all directions and establishes an omnipresent connection to the surrounding gardens and treetops. During construction, the client constantly introduced complementing elements; a cast in place wall, a monolithic stair, “peacock green” paint, an artist installation…The palette of colors worked in harmony with the existing trees on this through-site in which the house can be appreciated from both front and back streets.
