Rockerman Residence
The house sits on a small site wedged between a cul-de-sac to the east side and a canal leading to Biscayne Bay to the west. As the area is prone to flooding, we lifted all the program 12’-0” above grade and created an open garden area connecting the front side of the property to the canal in the back.
The complex site form had a strong influence on the architectural solution for the house, which consists of a curved wall articulated through the use of exposed concrete and wood louvers to control daylight.
To further strengthen the connection with the surroundings, the interior spaces implement a palette of natural materials and emphasize views towards the park, canal, and Biscayne Bay
