SURGICAL UNIT MRI

Location: San Salvador, El Salvador
Status: Under Development (2016)
Size: 15,000 sq. ft. Facility

About the project: This sustainable compact hospital is being designed as a destination hospital to promote advanced medicine, radiation surgery and medical tourism in secondary cities in Latin America. New tendencies in hospital design led the SOW team to design an Eco-friendly building proposal for a generalized Latin American healthcare market. By implementing eco-friendly design strategies in collaboration with our clients, we hope to improve and motivate others to revert and stop the ecological damages created in the past by the Healthcare Industry. The development group is interested in including MRI surgical suites, gamma knife and intensive care as part of this 15,000 sq. ft. facility. Our main priorities were to create a centralized exterior courtyard in order to de institutionalize the hospital’s environment, provide direct access to the external environment, and minimize the high impact of the hospital in the natural setting by using sustainability design methods.
